OK, we’ve all heard of the Preiter or the 80-20 rule:
Twenty percent of your efforts will produce eighty percent of the results. The problem is knowing which twenty percent is the good twenty percent. Internet makes this relatively easy as we have all sorts of statistics to help us. At the same time too much data can waste our time and end up being in the less useful eighty percent.
At the same time there are some tasks which are total waste of time and deep down we know which those are and we can easily avoid them but unfortunately most useless time wasters are like fat in food. We know they do us harm (in this case our internet marketing harm) but we do them anyway – mine is reading the news or the email too much.
One good strategy is to limit the time you spend on these and disciplin yourself so for example you do these as a reward for getting a difficult task done.
